I’m Dakota Ross, the Owner of Horizon Technology Studio in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I’m passionate about building smart, efficient systems that simplify technology for my clients and help them get the most out of their IT investments.
I thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy turning complex challenges into clear, actionable solutions. Whether I’m managing domain infrastructure, creating information policies, providing desktop support, or anything in between, I bring a high-energy, hands-on approach to every project. Cybersecurity is also a top priority for me—I take a proactive stance to ensure digital assets and client trust are always protected.
As a Stillwater native, I’m proud to bring home the skills I developed supporting advanced Air Defense IT systems in the Marine Corps, along with the experience I gained providing IT support to some of the most well-known architecture and engineering firms in Austin, Texas—firms that deliver design services to companies like Apple and Tesla.
I’m always looking to grow my capabilities and am excited to help businesses in my community streamline their IT infrastructure and make smarter technology decisions.
Why a Turtle?
At Horizon Technology Studio, our mascot is a turtle. That might seem unusual—most IT companies go for something fast and aggressive. But we chose the turtle for a reason: consistency.
Just like in the story of the tortoise and the hare, the turtle wins not by being the fastest, but by being steady and persistent. Water doesn’t carve stone with force—it does so through slow, consistent pressure over time. That’s the mindset we bring to IT.
We believe in the power of small, consistent improvements. Inspired by the infinite game philosophy and the concept of atomic habits, we focus on 1% progress every day. It’s not about chasing trends or comparing ourselves to others—it’s about running our own race and being better than we were yesterday.
Yes, it’s easy to get distracted by the latest tech. But the turtle reminds us to stay grounded. Technology should serve your workflow—not the other way around. Too often, IT solutions are chosen because they’re new or popular, not because they actually help. We’re here to change that.
